I hate Lightroom 3!

Love the noise reduction but that's where it ends. The import window is so laggy and it doesn't see all my images on my card. It re-imports already imported images too and yes I have the Do Not Import Duplicate Files clicked. Just two minutes ago I tried to upload my 185 files I took today and it only uploaded about 100 saying it couldn't read the rest of the files. I remove the card and re-insert it and the rest of the files upload normally but it also wants to upload yesterday's shots too. What the heck happened to my good ole Lightroom. It was so reliable, it was a charm to use it.

Anyone else having trouble with LR3 since it came out? I stopped using the 64bit version because it hogs all my memory. Adobe forums are packed with posts about this but nothing is being said by Adobe on the forums, the last time I checked last week.

grrr

Sounds like you have a problem.

I'm underwhelmed by it, too. It's about the most user-unfriendly program I've used in years. I thought it was me, and I should go out and buy a book (since they don't give you TFM to R anymore).

I did managed to re-size and process one batch of photos, but I've never been able to do it again. I really feel like I've been had.

Is LR3 your first experience with Lightroom? LR2 is still working great on my PC. It's only LR3 that's driving me mad. I can process as usual with it, it's the import window I'm having trouble with. I checked my card reader and all is well. My card is fine too.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to PM me if you like.

Have you posted your problems to the Adobe User Forum, or whatever feedback process they use? That's probably a more practical step than asking about it here. If you don't require some feature of version 3, perhaps you should consider uninstalling and requesting a refund, and going back to v2.

I love Lightroom and how it works so I'm holding off until they patch it. I did send an email to them but no reply yet. LR2 works flawlessly so it's not a hardware issue.

That's not a sure thing ... for example, on the Mac platform, a lot of recent upgrades will only run on Macs with an Intel processor -- they won't work on units (like all of mine) with PowerPC G3/G4/G5 processors, even though they may be running the same version of the MacOS ... :-(

I agree--worth checking on: particularly RAM needs. Aperture 2 worked fine on my old (white!) imac for a long time, but with successive updates both to the OS and Aperture 2.x's, it just became unwieldy & unstable. When I upgraded my mac, Aperture 2 suddenly ran flawlessly (and it was not a re-install, but a migration directly from the older mac). It still needed more RAM than I had to get thru a several-image-editing-session, though, as before. I added some memory, and now it is great. And a subsequent update to a larger, more feature-rich Aperture 3 works great.

Adding memory now means an editing session ends because I get tired instead of the mac getting weary. :-)

I don't know anything about LR3, but with advanced features comes higher load on processor and more RAM used up. It MIGHT be that adding a little memory will help. Adobe forums would likely be a good place to find out what other users are encountering, and if memory is a factor.
