I need some help understanding the PocketWizard on a flash unit like the nikon sb-900. I use off camera flash all the time. My d300 can set off the sb-900 flash off camera. Why are people using a PocketWizard on a SB-900 for off camera flash if their camera already have the capability to do it? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm new at this.

Not a Nikon owner but will take a punt on this one. With Pocket Wizards you don`t need line of sight to trigger the remote flash _ iam assuming the remote flash triggering on a D300 is via IR or pre-flash technology - this requires the flash to see the camera in a direct line. With Pocket wizards you have a far greater range, and the flash can be triggered even if you are in a different room (yes, there are uses for this). But not having to worry about the IR signal being seen is very liberating - sunny days for example.
