This week's open options aren't really all that different. Both require a model and props; the only difference between the two - that I can see - is the type of prop.

I kinda like it better when our options on the open challenges are just touch more diverse!

I agree...they are boring. What is Langdon doing....looking at going into a stock photography agency? I won't be entering.

Oh, I think it's fair to throw in stock options (heh!) now and then - we have people here who like that sort of thing, some who are very good at this sort of thing, some who want to start trying it. No problem with that, but essentially two challenges of the same thing? Stock versus street might be a better combo. :-)

actually, "...Both require a model and props..." is not correct. only the second one, "Operator" requires a model. i've gotten some success in medical-related stock photography with only props...

but i agree that 2 stock photography challenges is not much of a choice...

Yeah, medicine doesn't really require a model.

This week's opens are the same challenge. Shoot a free study, determine whether it is over or under, title it appropriately and voila! If the two opens are essentially going to be the same each week, perhaps it is time to go back to just one? Other than the novetly of "over/under" there is no reason to have separate challenges here. Or am I just getting cranky in my old age?

I do wish we'd go back to options in the open challenges. The stock photos didn't work for me, because I'm on the road, and don't have the background/lighting options. Over/under does seem to also be the same thing. It was nice having different choices.

so yes, I agree -- and I must be as cranky as you :D

yeah but you cant edit it. so you need to actually take a really good shot.

im really curious to see how the images turn out, without being photoshopped all up.

Ms. Melethia Bleh, you make a good point--however, I do think it's all right to have a challenge (pair of challenges) that emphasizes the importance of the title.

In my opinion, the title is just as much a part of the image as the part that's an exposure and processed (or not), and as much as the border (or lack of one). Doesn't hurt to put the focus on that for once.

Geeshh guys, stop complaining.

Oh, I agree there has been very good variety, just not seeing the need for two open challenges these days if there is no difference between the two. Keep up the variety, go to one challenge mid-week?
