I just recently received a Wacom Intous3 tablet from a very generous friend.. after owning it for a little over a month, my pup decided to take a bite out of the USB cable (It was placed out of his reach, or so I thought...)
In any case, I've sent the guys at Wacom an email requesting a repair "quote" and I haven't received a response.. I'm beginning to think "Splice"...
Should I try to splice the USB cables back together, or seek another sort of repair?
Any advice would help... this would be my first splice.. and I would love some guidance.
edit: Happen to know how to replace a Wacom USB wire? I've seen the inside of one online.. it seems easy enough to spot the (what looks like) 4 pin power connector.

Walking my dog, a person asked me if he was an expensive puppy. I responded that they are all expensive, although some you have to pay a little more up front.
I've never heard of splicing a usb cable... usually you can just unplug it and buy a new one at the computer store.
Good Luck!

If it's like my daughter's Wacom Graphire, the USB cable is hardwired at the tablet end. I always thought for sure we'd be paying to have that fixed some day, but after five+ years, it's still in one piece (and this is a young lady that keeps NOTHING in one piece)

Ha! Appreciate it.. like "larryslights" said.. the damn cord is hardwired in there... about 75$ to have replaced via Wacom.. (or so i've read).. I've found articles on "How to" splice a USB cable.. but, I've also read articles that suggest it can be dangerous.
I could also purchase a new wire for about 16$ from the guys at Wacom.. yet, it has also been suggested that the tablet itself is held together via pressure.. and one false move could destroy it. :/
decisions.. decisions.... |

I'd bet Wacom makes a good living off of replacing hardwired USB cables.
Hardwired USB? Seriously? That was my first thought when I pulled the thing out of the box.
