My choices submission was the one with the {edit}. I guess you had to be there to understand the picture. {edit} I know the picture is squashed but I was in the middle of {edit}. It was not an easy picture to get. Someone made the comment "yawn" and "what's the choice". I did not choose food like a lot of people did. I chose something that should mean alot about choices. {edit} I am not claiming to be a professional photographer, but my work is alot different from others and my views are usually completly opposite of most people. If you find the picture of the {edit} and look at it..my rating is a 4.2 right now. I am not upset at the rating but I think people don't u nderstand the choice part. Give me your opinion on why this doesn't fit the "Choice" challenge.

And to view other photos I have that have not been submitted on here..check out this link.

Ecce beat me to it. I was surprised when I realized that you talking about a current challenge; big not-to-do here. But best of luck to you and I can appreciate your feelings.

Ecce Signum and Kylie beat ME to it! Best not to describe your entry in a challenge while it's going on. That said, you sound like you think people should be voting higher on photos that illustrate choices that are more important or significant than others. But that may be a misunderstanding on your part. We're judging the quality of the photo, not the importance of the subject matter. A well-composed, perfectly focused, properly lit photograph of a trivial choice will outscore a poorly composed, blurry, pooly lit photograph of an important choice (and I'm NOT saying your photograph was well done or poorly done) because we're judging the quality of the PHOTO, not the quality of the CHOICE.

It really doesn't seem to make a difference if I post it during a challenge or not because everytime I submit a picture my taste isn't good enough for anybody. Last challenge people voted really low just because I made it too small. I was still learning how to resize appropriatly. I am still learning here. Anyway..a lot of people here are professionals and I would appreciate a fair vote just because I'm not professional. I'm sure my newspaper picture will get small votes too. It's a picture of {edit}. I called it {edit}. Kind of humorus I guess but I wonder if that will not be humorous to anybody else. In my opinion I think some people on here need to lighten up. It's not like ya'll are making money off of a ribbon. And no I'm not usually mean..but I'm hurt I guess this is my way of letting people know how I really feel about how people vote. I'm not asking for a high vote, but I am asking for people to be more fair and maybe try to see it from another perspective and not just your own. And please don't let my opinion and thoughts affect how you vote for any upcoming pictures I may put on here. Vote cuz you like the picture or you don't like the picture. THanks

Oh and also, I've had people vote 1 on it and make comments like "Yawn" and "what's the choice?" . So people do vote for it cuz they think the picture is boring or don't understand it.

Can I just add to Boomer's great explanation that I look for a photo of (in this case, Choices) that spontaneously brings to mind the whole concept of Choice. Especially in Choices, where it can be said everything is a choice, it really helps when I think that someone has nailed bringing that idea into your mind. Hopefully all this helps you!

Sorry I keep thinking of things .. the pictures I have submitted to the challenges so far haven't been the greatest and I'm still learning. And maybe that's cuz I'm a digital artist and not a photographer. I like making swirly and crazy artwork. But there are some photographs on my website. And you can see some of the other work I've done and please comment on my other stuff. I'd like some opinions on that. And I'm not trying to put anybody down in my other posts..Just stating my mind. I am not asking for high votes..but honest people.

What's interesting is that you've got a lot of 'wow' photos in your yahoo portfolio that would have gotten high scores in other challenges (examples are the portraits of your husband and also your son - one particular picture, the 'colorized' photo of your husband could have done well in the members challenge, 'selective desaturation'. So just keep on plugging ... you've got the fundamentals because you're an artist. Some of us don't have the aesthetics that seem to be easy for a lot of people here. But we keep on ... :-) Don't let low scores discourage you that much ... as long as you like what you're posting and if even only one person got what you wanted to convey, then you're ok.

Thank you flip for your opinion that means alot to me. THis is only my 3rd challenge. And I won't use paypal so I guess I wont be a member. But yes the things for the members are things that I know I have good pictures for. The things for the non members...well that's just I guess almost too easy and then I end up with bad pictures. Anyway..Again, thank you for your opinion. It is appreciated.

Also here in a couple weeks on that url i gave a few posts ago..there will be some black and white pictures I took at the local lake of the sun setting but you don't see the sun..all you see is the hundreds of jacobs ladders coming down. I mean there was so many of them..it was absolutly incredible. I hope it turns out good. I'll try to fit it into a sumission hopefully.

You don't have to use Paypal, if that makes any difference. Paypal is just quick and easy, so I used it. I hope you join and enjoy yourself. I score low, but I am learning a lot, enjoying it, and I still like certain pictures of mine regardless - and I can find out what keeps them from being great or just enjoy the different tastes and opinions. Good luck! Note to FLIP: YOU are an artist. Me - no!

Just a reminder that all DPC submissions have to be taken during the challenge week. You can't submit a photo that you took last week, last month, etc. However, if there is a month-long "Free Study" (like there is this month), any picture taken in June is valid for that challenge.

And please don't reference current or future challenge entries in the forums. Thanks!
