You'd think I would know by now, but since I'm not sure, I'll ask.

1. I see images, where the photographer seems to have made comments on their image as the challenge progressed. Are you all running a blog that you cut and paste later, or is there a way to update the photographer's comments as the challenge rolls along.

2. For my Canon friends... If I copy the images from the camera to the hard drive using the EOS utility supplied by Canon, does it make any changes. (All I do is select the copy function.) I have been keeping the images on the flash card as well, in the event of a miracle and I finish near the top. Just wondering if I need to.

That's all for, It should be obvious, for today.

Can't answer 2, but for number 1, this is something added automatically by the system. If you make some photographers notes during the voting period, a time stamp is added.

ETA. To add the comments, go to the image that is in the challenge (in your portfolio) then add the comments as you would normally. I'd do a screen shot, but it would give away my top secret entry :)

To do this, you can access the comments section by opening your entry in your "Portfolio".

To add notes during the challenge, you have to access the challenge entry through your portfolio. This will show you the existing notes and give you a field to input additional notes.

Also not sure about the EOS utility, as I don't use it. I always use a card reader.

If you shoot RAW you have nothing to worry about. You can move those around all you want without changing the file. If you shoot only JPG, you need to be very careful. Even viewing them with some software, including the image viewer that comes with Windows, will alter the metadata on the original. This will result in a DQ if you don't have the original unaltered jpg file.

A simple copy from the camera or the card shouldn't alter the metadata, but opening the JPG it in any software runs the risk of changing the file.

I recommend shooting RAW or RAW + JPG. While this takes more storage resources, the RAW file will cover you against any original file alterations.

Personally, I only shoot RAW as it is the original file with no changes made by the camera in the way of white balance, contrast and sharpening.
