Have a fitness model coming in to shoot next week -- looking for any handy fitness photography tutorials or example galleries anyone might remember... Either my googling skills are slipping, or I'm just not hitting the right keywords. I know I've come across several detailed tutorials in the past, but I didn't pay much attention as I didn't necessarily expect I'd be shooting any extremely muscular models at the time... :P
Just looking for posing ideas, any lighting hints/tips to emphasize musculature / physique, etc. I have several ideas I can fall back on, but wanted to find some references I might glean some inspiration from.
If anyone has specific recommendations, this will be an in-studio shoot (white cyc wall), multiple lights & modifiers available, subject is fair-skinned male. |

| This Strobist bit on photographing climbers might be right down your alley and of some use. One of the three talks about how to use the light to show muscular definition well. |

Awesome, thanks for that reference. Hobby always has interesting things to say. :)
I remember a site (blog?) I stumbled across a few months ago that discussed fitness photography... It had lots of really unique ideas on posing, tons of lighting tips, and a number of really interesting "tricks" -- what oils can be used to really highlight skin and add contrast under specific lighting... It's one of the places I've seen the "glycerin trick" (using glycerin + water to simulate sweat or tears) discussed in detail.
Should have bookmarked it or paid more attention when I found it, obviously -- I assumed if/when I needed in the future, I'd just pick it up in google. *sigh*
Anyone else know of any unique fitness photog portfolios / blogs / etc. online? |

As far as lighting goes, I've seen a lot of hard rim lighting on fitness photos and just harsher light in general. It may be different depending on what your model looks like, but that's my observation.
Found a site by a guy who does quite a few fitness shots.
