If nothing else, this may draw in a few more people to put in their first photograph. Once that painful experience is out of the way, it is more likely they will start entering every week.

Hopefully =)

One you enter, you get sucked in, and there is no escape. Before long, your family members get the fever, too. My MOM has even started suggesting pictures for me to take. My NIECE asks every Monday, "What is it this week?" My HUSBAND has resigned himself to prop/lights/critic guy. My SON simply looks at the camera like, "Oh No, not again." (He's only 6 mos old).
Hehehehehe. What would we do without DPChallenge?

I think I just figured out why "Free Study" is so intimidating for so many of us. I just returned from about 3-1/2 hours of looking for the very best picture opportunity, and than capturing it for this challenge. I got up early to catch the "Sweet Light". I took about 35 shots of various things and don't feel comfortable with any of them. Is every one looking for the best shot instead of just relaxing and having fun? I am going back to having fun. First though I am going through this morning's effort, hoping "My Entry" is hidden somewhere on the memory card.
Sure glad I don't have to go to the 1Hour photo place.

I agree totally. Go back to where you've shot before and see something different. Do something you haven't done yet. Just let the shot come to you. I had something planned all week, then yesterday when I had the chance, drove two hours to be there at just the right time, and the weather was completly wrong. But when I started looking I saw something I hadn't seen before and out of about 50, there's a couple that don't totally suck.

Can you feel the pressure... to win you only have to shoot the best picture of your life... I havent even started yet... this is like craming for a final exam...

Soon you too can start befuddling your mate, when you stand there dumbly staring and she says, what are you looking at, and you say ''that sunbeam is sooo amazing'' :)

NO No sun.. sun bad. sun = hot and sweaty. down with the sun! booo sun!

... its hot ...

Can definitely agree. Have to hide out in the closed up, dark house with airconditioning to survive the heat!!!

I don't know about any of you...but as for me...the day I picked up a digital camera and found out how fun it could be...is the day that I could no longer take a walk or a ride in the country and not see things in a new way. EVERYTHING is a chance at a great photo to me now. I see things I've passed by many times. Maybe don't think so hard...just get out and take some photos and I bet you'll find something that really pleases YOUR eye:)

Same here. I wasn't really interested in taking pics of the stuff around the house. But down here in Louisiana, on the bayou, there's been tons of stuff to take pictures of. Huge shrimp boats, seagulls, huge Cranes and Pelicans...and since I finally got a digital camera with a zoom lens, I was finally able to get a picture of an alligator that had been hanging around the bayou. Unfortunately, the camera didn't have one of those lens "threads" or filters..um...whatever it is that lets you attach lenses and lens adapters. That's gonna be what my next camera is going to have. Then, I'll hopefully have some REALLY cool shots.

I had a great time shooting for this challenge. It allowed me to rediscover my own style!
Thanks!

This challenge should create a great diversity in subject matter and, therefore, increase the competition. I can hardly wait to see the results.

Well I think it is a great opportunity to execute all those great ideas that came to our minds, when we were working on other challenges and realized that they just dont fit in!!

Only 16 1/2 hours until I can see the new pics, find out how I placed and find out what this weeks challenge is!!!!
If the time would only pass faster!
