Here is something you don't see every day... snow in Death Valley and charcoal kilns

Oh Steve! PLEASE send your beautiful photo to the NPS! That sign definitely needs an UPDATE! ;-)

Built in 1877, eh? Makes em just 2 years older than my house! :-) And doesn't it seem a little redundant, I mean having *kilns* in Death freakin' Valley? Or did someone just have a strange sense of humour?

I can tell you this... when I was in DV in April it was anything but hot.

Must be quite bizarre, not to mention the white cold stuff too...well, at least you wouldn't have had to worry about rattlers!

No snow, yet. But it snowed about 5" later that night while we were camped in Cottonwood(??) Canyon. DV is a hidden gem...
