I think all three ribbon winners from a challenge

- should only be awarded ribbons only if they have commented on at least 20% of the remaining entries within 2 days of the challenge ending :-)
- should be banned for next 8 weeks from participating in any challenge :-):-)

I've been here about 4 years and it used to be that the forum topics would fall off the front page in a matter of minutes, thus the shameless 'bump'. Now, stuff is still on the front page hours later. Some of the more colorful characters were chastised by other members and left or were put in DPC jail for short periods...and left. Some outgrew the site, developing other areas of their photography....and left. We've gained new members along the way, but the feel is different.

Bear_Music and

DrAchoo rallied the troops to get more participation and it has helped, as more members took a bigger roll in trying to get participation up. I feel like (don't flame me) the willingness to help is at a lesser level, only because of those members we do have. There are still some of the same wonderful people offering assistance and helpful comments, but the number of those FULLY participating has dropped. By FULLY participating I mean...entering, CONSTRUCTIVELY COMMENTING, participating in the forums, doing tutorials and just being around. Again, many have moved on as they have gotten what they needed/wanted from this site and gone on to bigger and better things.

There does seem to be a bit more bickering and sometimes even disrespect for other members and that alone has turned off some members to where they don't want to hang around.

As for challenge topics...and we could all help by offering suggestions...I haven't been inspired much by the topics lately either.

Sometimes the challenges don't stir any juices and sometimes you'd like to enter both of the exclusives. Would it help participation levels if we could enter both??

I think too that the immediate suspicion that falls on newbies (because of the past) might hurt the chances of the sticking around. (IMHO)

I disagree. Bickering has always been part of the DPC tradition going all the way back to the uncivil war era.

Always thought this would be a wonderful thing to try if they were paired exclusives, like entry and exit, dark and bright.....

What is the reasoning behind only being able to enter one exclusive challenge anyway?

Also since no one else has suggested it, why not do a challenge called "Just sayin'"... think smart alec free study ;P

Oh, and I'm sure the challenge definition would generate lots of forum discussion and argument....
