I was here a couple years back and this place was booming. Seems now that it's kinda just floating along but there's not a lot of forum activity. Am I just imagining things or has participation declined?

You are, unfortunately, not imagining things. Site membership is down, and still declining from a high of about 3000 members to 1814 currently. That's one measure of participation, there are others, they all tell the same story, pretty much.

This kind of thread makes me active..

Money is tight and people have less leisure time to shoot, process, and hang out on line, and less money to spend on equipment, and travel.

The forum needs a few of the troublemakers to come back. That always generated activity...

DPC have any plans to change the course of where participation is going?

it's a safe bet that's what the dpl2 was all about. i'm pretty sure there's been a good spike in activity since the start of the dpl.

Been here just over 4 years now and yes, site participation has really slowed down. When I first joined 200-300 entries per challenge was pretty much par for the course. Now the average challenge seems to draw only between 100-200. Only Free Studies still tend to draw a big entry of say 400+ or so.

It 'may' help increase site-traffic to let people vote even without registering, as long as they comment on every image they vote.

Just sayin...

ETA: ... so we don't keep marrying ourselves within extended families and praising each other, and open up our images for the rest of the world's brutality;-)

this is still a lot, but i undestand what your saying. I didnt really pay attention to challenges when i first started but i know that the amount of participation in challenges have really dropped...

Cory gets to clean the Spiff guts from the ceiling. Don't worry, it was only my brain, nothing critical.

People need to lighten up and not take their axes out when asked clarification on challenge descriptions.

Jus' Sayyin'...

I think new challenges are needed - it gets kind of old seeing the same pics in the same roll over challenges (i.e, Red, Red II, Red III).

Just sayin...
