If anyone would care to offer their insight on these two photos I took last night I would appreciate it, I didn't upload the actual camera settings but I was using my 7D with my 70-200 2.8 IS lens and an off camera flash shot into an umbrella. Thank you in advance and be as critical as you can.

The mom was very happy but to me I don't know. I feel like they have some issues and with spending my time on them I could use an outside unbiased opinion.

Thank you EL-ROI for your comment, it is appreciated very much. Does anyone else want to help me out? :)

I agree with El-roi that the main hindering factors are the out of focus foreground factors in both images. Without them the images would be a lot stronger.
They also seem a little soft, but I have a suspicion that that was created inadvertently during post processing.
The lighting is good in both though, and I like the colors in the first image.

First thank you to all who took the time to comment. This was a learning exercise and you have all brought up some excellent points, some I knew about some I completely missed. As far as her eyes being soft, yeah that was a rookie technical error on my part. I sacraficed shutter speed to keep aperture and iso where I wanted it but I went to low with the shutter. If I were to do this again with everything the same I would have bumped the iso up a stop or 2 to increase the shutter speed to help with the sharpness. That or at least use a tripod. Thanks again everyone.
