Ok so I know how it goes, we send our work to art directors until they call us. However, I believe there has to be a better way than this. Art directors see so many resume's, portfolios and emails a day that its a crap shoot if we even get viewed. and by that point they are so used to rejecting pictures that they will easily reject yours, for any reason even if its great work. At least thats been my experience.

Im sure there are better, more effective and creative ways of getting your work seen and under the right circumstances.

If there is not, lets make one! Because honestly, I dont have the stamina to keep sending hundreds of emails a week. I know I can do it and all that, I just think there has to be a better way of doing it.

Anyone else out there with this mentality as well?

I thought of creating a DVD with my work on it, the package would even be customized to my own design. I think its a good way to start, real professional and straight to the point. However its expensive.

Create a Google ad campaign, target it at the names of the people who you want to reach, so when they type in their name, your webpage comes up.. You can set different landing pages too, so you could have a custom page for each name that you wish to reach..

Who hasn't Google'd themselves? Besides, even if it's not the primary person you wish to reach, there's a good chance it will still fall into the right hands through the grapevine..

What I can tell you for certain is this: For ~50 bucks you can make a huge impact.. I would suggest doing a CPC (cost per click) campaign if there is low keyword traffic, otherwise, perhaps a CPM (cost per 1000 impressions) model would be more effective..

*shrug* That's what I would do anyway..

well I already started a 50 dollar campaign on facebook, that actually does help a whole lot and Im going to be setting a lot more money aside from now on for advertising.

I would like to do more research into the "who's who" to contact for jobs out here. I guess I need to start looking at my favorite magazines or the ones where my style would fit in best and just go from there. I was also thinking of contacting a list of designers in the area (Im sure LA has a couple) and see what happens. I know a furniture store wants to buy some of my work so I might try more furniture stores as well. (research and networking has always been my weakest point).

I got approached to do a shoot this weekend for a designer so I should have a good set of portfolio images after this week to send off to designers.
