Lastolite Umbrella - All-In-One-40" - LAUAIO45
along with 8' foot stand and speedling/umbrella clamp.
However, after weeks of reading and finally placing the order with BH, I noticed the stand says for up to 12 pounds weight. Also says up to 36" umbrella...my Lastolite will be 40"..is this a big deal? My umbrella/flash will weigh less than 12 pounds so I should be ok here.
Well anyway...get ready for some well lit photos.

It'll be lots of fun. Just remember that your 40" umbrella turns into a 40" sail as soon as there is any wind at all. And that sail has your flash under it... sand bags are your friend. (I learned that one the hard way just a couple of weeks ago)

Heehehee...Yes, someone told me of this senario.......
....did you flash break or fly into a pond?

| Fortunately the ground was quite soft and it just tipped over gradually while I watched in horror. The flash itself was fine but the weight of the flash was enough to bend the hell out of my brolly. It still works but its definitely bent. :( And theoretically it could have flown into a pond because this was for my self-portrait a couple of challenges ago. |

You can also use some tent stakes and some of these for a really quick guy out of your light stand. Much lighter weight, but depends on something you can pound a stake into, obviously.
Can't comment on the strength issue, sorry. |

That's a great idea. I'll have to swing by Mountain Equipment Co-op to see if they have anything like that.
hmm...looks like they do:

They (Nite Ize) has a few other products that the photographer might find useful, as well. The Figure 9's I use for guying out really anything at all-first heard of them in the context of outdoors stuff (some tent manufacturers are including them in their tents these days, even), but I'm interested in maybe getting one of these adjustable bungies. The S-Biners are also awesome for all sorts of stuff.
Besides, I like throwing their name out, as they're a semi-local company for me.
