We are considering a little vacation time at Cape May, NJ this year. Anyone with opinions? Is it a fun place, with things to do other than lay on the beach (which we don't do). Most importantly, what about photo ops nearby? They do have a lighthouse, which looks ok (anyone with shots of it?). Anything else to shoot? Waterfalls, rivers, rapids? Nice hikes?

Cape May is a cutesy little historic type town. Great beaches, wonderful place to relax. They do have the bird observatory link, and lots of cute little shops, but not really much to do. If you're looking for boardwalks & nightlife, I'd suggest Wildwood.

Did you decide if you are coming to Cape May?

Yes, indeed, I will be there at the end of August. Any interest in getting together for a shoot? Are there other DPCers there too? Ideas for shooting ops?

i was going to go down last week (i live in S. jersey about and hour away), but my wife got sick. Cape may is the only shore where you can get a good pic of a sunset, since its on the peninsula of jersey.

there is a whale watching tour you can do if you want some good shots of the lighthouse against the sunset, since it will go out at dusk, its prices pretty reasonable, if you never did it and want some goods shots i'd recommend it.

wildwood is the next beach up and has decent nitelife, im not big on the crowd that goes there, it attracts a little lower class, i think because of the free beach, but the boardwalk has good rides for the kids.

cape may also has an awesome zoo, its free, and the only ask for a donation, definitely worth a visit.

If anyone is interested in a meetup, I am planning an early AM shoot next Wednesday or Thursday. I hate getting up early, but for photography, I'll do it!
