I appreciate the fact that there are several members who give out their own awards for the photos in challenges that they love....
the posthumous by posthumous
the MUAIMHO by vlado
the Blue Bird by vawendy
there may be more that I'm unaware of.

Now I see there is a new one....the Simply Beautiful award by ScooterMcNutty

If I knew how to make those thingys I would give you each an award for recognizing the talents of others who otherwise may not get noticed.

But my I make a suggestion?
Could each of you who give out awards create your own thread? It's really hard to keep up with when they are all handed out in the posthumous award thread. At least for me and I figure if it is for me it may be that way for others as well.

Just something to think about.

The "Posthumous Awards" thread was created several iterations ago by De Sousa, and essentially colonized early-on by Posthumous, but it has never been exclusively his. Here's the original post:

I'm creating this thread to encourage people to show, week after week, challenge after challenge, their preferences for different photos than the ones winning DPC ribbons. I think it's important to give some visibility to other works not aligned with the mainstream taste, and give support to photographers with different views and approaches to photography.

So, after each challenge, you are encouraged to post here your personal winners, photos that did not won a DPC ribbon and are not align with the masses taste, but won your heart instead.

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. Let̢۪s show some.

A warm comment in a photograph can do a lot.
Jorge.

So all these additional awards are in keeping with the spirit of the creator, and personally I think it would probably not be a good idea to have multiple threads doing the same basic thing; it would clutter up the home page every rollover, some folks would stop giving awards because it would look too egotistic, and those of us who actually *follow* the awards might find it hard to keep track.

That's just one bear's opinion, though :-)

Actually, the Posthumous thread, in spite of being named after one member, is intended for all these other awards and recognition. It gives one place to look after the challenge. I think numerous individual threads would be a mess and not get nearly the exposure that having them in one place does.

I haven't given any out lately, but I also have a shoehorn award, which I give not for shoehorning an entry, but for injecting some much needed humor into a non-humorous challenge topic. It is totally based on what tickles my funnybone. bvy has a couple of them stuffed and mounted on his profile page.
