Besides what EddyG saya, 640 is also handy since it's the same width as a standard (VHS quality) video frame, making it easy to incorporate photos into slide shows or view them on a TV.

GeneralE, not sure what that has to do with dpc, unless you're making a slide show of other people's entries...

As for people having to scroll, like I said before, there could be an option in your preferences, allowing you to view at a larger size. This would allow people who don't want larger to go on living life as usual, while us who crave the larger photos can do so.

As far as prints are concerned, I'm really not sure why anyone would be concerned over a 4x6 print. That's nothing in my book. I would never print a photo that small, not for a wall or exhibit etc. The only people stealing these, would never pay for one anyway. They've proved that with mp3s. Yes many people download and never buy, but they never would've bought anyway.

No, I mean more like putting a bunch of edited imaged on a CD so grandma can watch them on her DVD player ...

You're missing my point. We're talking about images for DPC, not for our personal uses. For myself I actually have about 6 folders on my hard drive of the images I need, I put all images from my portfolio in each one, a 1280 folder, a 1024 folder, an 800, a 640 for dpc, a 305 and a 244 for thumbnails.
