Rim lighting is a great method used to outline the subject and produce a striking effect that shows shape. Show this effect in your photo.

I know this is a lot like backlighting but I think this is more designed to bring out the subject in a different and more interesting way. I was reading about it this week in a book and saw some really cool things that can be done with it in google images to.
