I'm looking to add some new lenses to my collection for mostly scenic photography, sunsets/skylines and some birds. The idea of a stabilized lens appeals to me. What can a stabilized lens do for me? Should I invest in a prime lens? Does anyone have some advice as to what lenses I would get the most use out of (considering the adjustment for the smaller-than-35mm sensor in the 300D)?

Looking at:
Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
Sigma 28mm F1.8 EX DG Aspherical Macro

I Have:
Canon EF 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II
Sigma 28-105mm f/2.8-4 Aspherical
Sigma 100-300mm f/4.5-6.7 DL

Many thanks

As far as stabilized lenses are concerned, I highly recommend them. This shot was taken at 1/25 second using a 400mm lens with a 1.4x teleconverter on it (560mm) and that is not including the crop factor. The shot was hand held. I think IS makes a HUGE difference.
