I might be in the market to sell a Canon Rebel XTi in the near future, possibly with the kit lens (Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6) included. Both in great shape, probably around 15,000 actuations. Any thoughts on what a reasonable price might be? I've done a little looking but the numbers seem to range anywhere from $200 to $500. It may end up going to a relative, as well, so I'm really looking for a fair price, not necessarily how much I could get for it on the top end.

Many of the ones I see offered online I feel are overpriced. I would not pay $500 for an XTI when I can buy a new XS for about the same. That kit lens is not worth much, if it is the original non-stabilized version that I think it is. I think $300 is reasonable, though even that may be the high end of what I would pay. I think $200-$250 would move it quickly.

As another point of reference, I just got off the phone with Canon about possible repair or upgrade to my Powershot S5 IS, and they offered me a Rebel XS body for $359 with the turn in of the Powershot.

I have found giving things to worthy people very rewarding.

Thanks for the numbers, Spiffy. Any other thoughts out there?

Hmm, I would have hoped that they would offer an S90 or G series..

They also offered an SX-10 for $199 and a G11 for $249. If this were to replace the S5 for my own use, I'd go with the G11, but this will be used by Cowtownmom, who is already campaigning for me to buy her an SLR.

My son is thinking of jumping on the Canon boat and I may be interested in this if you decide to sell it. Just drop me an email. Thanks.
