I think this board is wonderful because I've noticed that during DPL, team members have the benefit of having others to help them/critique their work to better their photos however, members who do NOT belong to teams often have no one to look at their pieces and do the same thing. This leaves those who do not have access to this type of thing "behind" in that aspect of things.

I'm glad this is here! :)

To some extent I disagree, because most of us who have been on this site a while have developed a network of online buddies to do that with. I've not been asking for much outside feedback during DPL, but it's there and others are still asking me for it. Of course, we skip voting on those. I've also found that even if the other 9 people on your team think a shot is great, that is still not a large enough sampling to determine success. I've had several DPL entries now that my team has thought were strong entries, but they either did mediocre, or totally tanked.

I do think well intentioned and honest pre-challenge feedback is one of the strongest learning experiences to be had on DPC.

I wish that I had feedback because I'm so far off track now that I can't seem to find my way back LOL. Most of that is due to lack of time to do photos lately. However, I think what might help me most is learning editing techniques more thoroughly. I've seen the before and after shots of some of the winning shots and it's been the editing that has done wonders for those photos. I'm afraid that I'm lost when it comes to editing. :(

However, I'm not on enough to form these stronger bonds with other members. I recognize that's a drawback for me and my problem to deal with. Still it's LONELY without help and friends in here LOL.

DPL is a bad time to enter challenges in here as well because there is a lot of help that goes on between team members to bring out the best that can be brought out.

I guess that's where knowing members who are much more technically advanced also helps. I've seen quite a few notes as "dedications" on winning entries to other members for their help and feedback and ideas. For people like me who aren't getting that type of thing from anyone, I'm really lost! LOL I'm getting fed up with my 4 scores! LOL

I've also learned not to ask family members because they have NO idea what DPC voters look for. They like what they like but, it's the kiss of death in here to choose their likes LOL!

Heck...wanna be my DPC Friend?!;)

ETA: BTW....I see that you've really progressed with your photography!!!! Congrats on the ribbons! I haven't looked at your profile in awhile and see 3 ribbons!! Wooohooo!!! I remember when you and I both were SO frustrated. Looks like I'm still stuck in Frustrationville and you've found your way out to the Big Time! :) Congrats! You so deserve it because you've never given up. :)

Congrats, on entering! You've just gotta jump in and get your feet wet. You may sink a few times but, eventually, you'll learn how to swim. Everyone has to start somewhere! Keep on trying!!! Best of wishes with it! :)
