Can anyone confirm that the old "AI" lenses for Nikon will allow manual control of the aperture from the lens... I see a ring closest to the camera mount that looks like it control it..... but I don't yet own one of them to confirm and want to avoid buying a brick.
I am actually looking to build a rig that projects an image by mounting an old manual lens on a flash with a transparency in between. I will probably go for a long-ish zoom of some type to get some flexibility. |

| AFAIK, the only Nikon lenses that lack an aperture ring are the most recent (G) lenses. I have also used a couple AI and AIS lenses with success. |

Non-AI, AI, AI-S, AF, and AF-D lenses all have an aperture ring ...unless they say "G."
Any lens that has a "G" does not have an aperture ring. This includes most AF-S lenses. |
