Haha poor Steve!

I do have a GPS, for 2 years now.... it's never even been out of the box.

I think what's really sad is I live 45 minutes from the Bisti and I have been there twice ever. I have a bunch of friends that go ride horses in it often and I never have. My only decent set of pictures from there are on slides with a not great lens. I really need to work on that. Steve... can ya help me out? You probably know more about my own backyard than I do! I'll tie a helium balloon on a long string to my car roof even! Oh wait... prolly leave after sunset, never mind the balloon.

PS to Ristyz...
I know a very special SUPER secret photo op near you. When I'm down that way again and if you are interested I will show it to you. I call it the place of the Suevi Warriors though it has a different real name. ;)

Cristy!...be sure to bring your own GPS with you...Steve cannot be trusted with directions...and we don't want to lose you! ;-P

She's safe... I take a GPS fully loaded with topo maps for all the western states everywhere I go now. It comes in handy walking the slick rock of the Grand Staircase where there are few real trails or trail markings and everything looks the same.

And I always set a waypoint for my starting point. :)

Telluride and the Alta Lakes area... There is no place more beautiful. None. Now, give me credit for all those ribbons ;)

- This lake is located at ~12,000 ft, and there is another, even more beautiful lake just a bit higher nearby..

- Not a DSLR, and it shows.. The color here is amazing! (think HDR ;) )

Well Cory, we made it to the town (Alta) just below the lakes...and the road ENDED!!! we couldn't go any further and I have no idea if we would have been able to go on up to the lake (by hiking) as on our GPS it had been showing us right at the lake but out car on the GPS was just making little circles and cork screws so we had NO idea as to how much farther UP it was (and please don't tell me it was just around the bend!!!) Seeings how I live at 25' above Sea Level...these elevations are killer on my lungs and sinus' (should have seen me at Mesa Verde trying to catch my breath!!!)

So far it's been a fabulous trip...we made a trip (think I've taken about 800 +/- pictures so far, not bad for 6 days...pffff) I think I've gotten some really beautiful shots...yea...it's stunning to say the least...We drove a loop from Durango to Telluride and took a "off road" called the Last Dollar Road that had us in awe, and we came out in the Sneffles Range, saw a beaver colony that had about 30-40 beaver dams built but we didn't see the lodge...later we stopped in Ouray at the hot springs (for a nice long soak...it's the first time I've felt hydrated in days, bear in mind that I live in Florida @ 25' above sea leval (and that's on top of a hill) then on to Durango through Silverton...it was something...

yesterday we saw....Buffalo, Camels, Cattle, Sheep, Deer, Chipmunk, Marmot, Lama, Woodchuck, Elk, Porcupine (it was really slowly across the road), several birds, and a beaver colony (but no beavers)

Thanks again for all the travel tips...we have gone to Aztec, Mesa Verde and will be going to Horseshoe Bend as well (Monday) not to mention going to Antelope Canyon and Grand Canyon that same day...just thought you might be interested in what we've been up to...

Wow, super cool! I wish I would have known that you were in Aztec.. Darn :)

I can't WAIT to see the photos, but I expect that I'll have to wait for the Freestudy... :)..

I'm not sure which road you were on that ended... I expect you just didn't see where it continued.. In any case here's a centered Google Map...

Sorry to hear about your breathing issues (hehehe). :) No worries, that's a part of the price, even for those who are used to living at over a mile in elevation... It's just worse for you poor sea level folks...

I hope you enjoyed the drive around Telluride, that place is just wonderful, and the weather should have been just about perfect..

Well, can't wait to see the pics.. Let me know when you get them up.. (Feel free to PM if you'd like.. :) )
