Do people get their kit serviced?

Is it normal practice to send your kit in once in a while? If so how often? Lenses and bodies?

I ask because I have a bunch of dust on my sensor and would rather not clean it myself - especially if (after over a year of regular use) I should be sending my camera for a service anyway.

Thanks

Paul

I've sent mine in three times. Oh wait! It's broken 3 times...

sorry! haven't done regular service, but I've love to know the answer to this.

When I was a working pro, everything went in annually for service, the Sinar went in every 6 months (we used it on every shoot, constantly, and it's easy for the movements on view cameras to go out of whack). We had a local shop for this, so the turnover was quite rapid with an appointment.

But I've never sent a dSLR in... I certainly would if I were earning a living with my gear, though... Probably annually. It's good practice.
