I have been working on my photographs and noticed something I didnt notice before. All the images taken with my 300D are soft. Not blurry, just soft. All the ones I've noticed were taken with the kit lens so I dont know for sure if it's the camera or the lens. Anyone else had this problem? When the weather improves I'm gonna test the camera with the kit lens and other lenses to see what's up.

The 18-55 does have a tendancy to be soft, particularly around the edges. You should get servicable images from it though, as long as you're not looking at the image at 100%. Even a medium-quality lens won't look great at 100%.

It's the cheap hunk of plastic known as the kit lens. :)

Find me the same range lens for circa $100 that is better.
I have a 70-200/2.8L, so comparatively most lenses are cheap hunks of junk. Maybe we should all have L-ranges?
Edit: Added "the same range".

Well, if I could afford to buy only L lenses then I would. I'm not complaining about the lens, I was just wondering if it was the camera. The images are usable once I apply USM. It's all good. My first L baby is on the way!

That was my point, June. I can't afford to replace the 18-55 with an L either.. The fact is, for the money, it's a servicable lens.
I've got a 14"x11" shot with my 18-55 from a trip I took in January that I look at every day. It's not the sharpest in the world, but I appreciate that shot all the time.

I would wait for the L to arrive and try it with that. Hopefully it's not the camera and your L will be nice and sharp. Which model is it?

This was taken with the kit lens coupled to a 50mm f/1.8. Nothing soft about this image, and it's going through another layer of cheap glass (albeit a sharp one).

I went out today to shoot some pics for the black and white challenge. I used my Sigma 24-135 and guess what?!?!?! The images are soft with this lens too. Maybe this has been there all along and I just didnt notice it, but I dont like it. Maybe I'm just being ana-retentive. I'll post a couple an example with voting for B&W II is over.
