Does anybody have any experience with these new microdrive cards? I have seen some huge capacity(4 GB) on Ebay pretty cheap, but I have also heard of some reliability concerns. |

Many little moving parts. Bad thing. :) Microdrives don't take impact damage well at all.

A Microdrive has moving parts and by its nature will be less reliable than a CF memory card. A Microdrive is a miniature hard drive, and like any hard drive has moving parts that, in time, will fail.
That said, I've had mine for about 2 years and it still works.

These cheap 4GB microdrives sound like the ones that were ripped out of mp3 players, so probably won't be under warranty...

I got 2 of the HItachi 4GB microdrives and one of them basically lives in my Mark II, haven't had a problem yet.

Thanks all, I have been debating between the 2GB flash memory, and the 4GB microdrive. I think it will be the 2Gb, just because I can see potential for trouble with the Microdrive, and when you think about it, even shooting TIFF or RAW, 2 gigs is still a lot of pictures. |

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with the 5gb microdrives out of rio carbons?
Personally I think I would stick with a 4gb hitachi but just curious. |
