Hi .. Sigma EX APO range are very good indeed but as i am sure you know it can never be as good as Nikon top range stuff.. if only we could afford it right.. i always try to get Nikon even from 2nd hand place. I would of thought that shooting weddings would require a wider lens maybe try looking at the very reasonable priced Nikkor 28-200 3.5-5.6.. I found mine for $100 (10,000 yen)in super condition.. just a thought |

I imagine the lens work about the same for the Canon and Nikon so I thought I'd comment. I personally think it is a great lens. If I could afford the Canon I would have bought it instead but I needed a lens. Anyway look here, all of the photos were taken with the Sigma. |

I can't find the link where i read it, but from a pretty reliable guy (might have been Ken Rockwell) the tests seem *almost* inconclusive. The only advantage to buying the Nikkor (at twice the price) is the VR, which should remove 2-3 stops worth of camera shake. Can be pretty valuable at a wedding. The Nikkor 70-200 F2.8 VR is on my camera for virtually all my wedding shoots, for most of the day (except after dark, then it's the 50mm F1.8). If your light is ok, the Sigma's performace should easily rival the Nikkor.
I'd have bought the Sigma myself, but since i'm a diet coke freak, i figured the caffeine shakes warrant the VR.
