Click here to see a selection of my collection!

I have been collecting for around 5-7 years now. After years of promising Pete finally built me some extra shelves between the existing shelves in a unit in our living room and I took advantage of the opportunity to dust them, count them and take photos of a selection of my favourites.

Photography is nothing to write home about and I sped through post-processing but it's really just for fun so I don't think it's a big deal!

:o)

Nice collection, Kv. Very comprehensive. :-)

Kaveyland seemed a bit slow loading though - I guess the site's under a lot of load!

So, if we know when your birthday is we will know what to send you as a gift :)

The web seems really slow in general for me tonight so I guess there's some problem with the speed of my ADSL connection, since kaveyland is hosted right here at home...

Rennie, it's end of September so you just missed it but... I'm not fussy - I like receiving eggcups ANYTIME!

:o)

I am at work with a T3 connection, and it was crawling. Interesting collection, though.

Check back in a couple of days - I think there's something up with my connection (and hence the connection to the site for you all) tonight!

Thanks for looking though!

And now I'm selling doubles on ebay (uk). What fun!

Wow!

I nominate Kavey for the position of Poster Girl for Eggland's Best Eggs.

That's awesome! I think collections like that are really cool and eggcups are a really interesting, universal thing to collect with lots of character...

I'm on dialup but I look forward to looking through your collection when I get to work on Monday...

You should photograph each one, where you got it, and any interesting tidbits...it would be a neat (long term) photo project!

Thanks for sharing!

I can't remember any more where I got a lot of them - charity shops, car boot sales, flea markets...

Then again I can vividly remember where I got others...

At some point I really want to photograph the rest...

Are you a collector?

I just put 3 doubles on ebay and I'm currently bidding for 4 being sold there...

I just feel more enlightened because now I know what an eggcup is.

Seriously. :)

But doesn't the name give it away? A cup that holds eggs? ;o)
It amazes me how much variety is possible in an object that has such a simple task!
Of course some of the designs one can buy are totally NOT practical in terms of actually holding an egg securely and are designed and sold for collectors/ at Easter with chocolate in and so on.
But a LOT of mine are surprisingly handy and when I eat boiled egg and soldiers Pete chooses a random eggcup to hold my egg!

What came first, the chicken coop or the eggcup. I had no idea such a thing existed. I'm off to invent the world's first marshmellow stick. Oh wait...doh!

What a great thing to collect. I have never seen a collection of eggcups. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I collect shot glasses and have about 230 of them. My husband has been promising for a couple of years he would make me a display also but no luck yet. I enjoy collecting them.

Boiled eggs and soldiers:

Soft boiled eggs (boiled in the shell) till white is cooked but yolk is still runny.
White toast buttered and cut into fingers (which are, for some inexplicable Brit reason, called soldiers).
Top of egg cut off.
Soldiers dipped into yolk and eaten.
One of the best things in the world ever.

It took mine about 3-4 years after he first suggested it and offered to make them!

I would just like to say that EBAY addiction is a terrible thing.

There are a whole lot of tasty eggcups for sale on that site!

Sounds very tasty. As like a majority of Americans I don't wake up early enough for breakfast :( Instant coffee and out the house.

Most Brits don't either or if they do it usually involves a hurried bowl of cereal or a slice of toast... myself I tend to grab a fruit yoghurt if it's a working weekday.

The weekends, of course, are a different kettle of fish entirely!
