Just recieved the new SB-600 speed light for my D70. Ordered it from B&H. First experience with them and it went very well. Standard ground shipment took 3 days. Product was well packaged.
Speed light comes with a soft pouch carrying bag and a speed light stand that is threaded for attachment to a light stand or tripod. The SB-600 can work via remote and comes with a "built in" wide angle adapter for 14mm shots.
Will be attending a wedding this weekend (as a guest, declined the fotog role) and will give it a try.
So far it looks like what I was wanting. Already have a second flash unit (ProMaster) that can fire off a primary flash. |

Just out of curiosity, why didn't you spring for the SB-800? |

Good question. Based upon what I felt were the most likely uses for me and my prior SLR speedlight needs and my understanding that the SB-600 was specifically designed for the D70....the extra hundred dolars for the 800 just didn't seem worth it for me. The only advantage that I see for the 800 when used on a D70 is the -7 degrees tilt and a little extra reach. The big advantage of the 800 is its remote feature which the D70 has built in.....so the 600 was my choice. |

I bought the 600 also and I am very happy with it. But, I am now going to buy an 800 too. The 600 can't be used as a "Master" when using multiple flash units. In addition the 600 can't be used in strobe mode and doesn't have the difuser.

I just purchased the SB-800 as I am soon taking delivery of the D2x and wanted the iTTL feature and the ability to remotely fire multiple flashes (slaved). It is very similar to my SB-80, so it is very easy to learn and use.
Also, it works on my D100 camera body, but not in the iTTl mode, just in the normal TTL mode, which is fine.

I couldn't decide which one I wanted, so I bought both the SB-800 & SB-600. :)
