Evidently they are quite popular among astrophotographers for their low noise with long exposure times...

also note many people get a Dreb and have it modified to make it more sensetive to IR light. This is one of the down falls of a D-SLR or digital cameras, they have IR blocking filters, but most of the good astro objects have a lot of IR light. So a modified Dreb produces some very nice astro images

Spazmo, Thanks for the link. It is very timely. For the last couple of weeks I have been trying to get a descent shot of the moon (especially the eclipse phases) but with poor or mediocre results. Hopefully there is something in there to help me out.
