In order to promote photo retouching on an eventual website I tought this could do the job.

(the thumb doesn't work but the image do)
What do you think?

I like the effect. If you're looking for people to make depth comparissons though, I'd make it available as a side-by-side presentation too.

The difference between the original and the retouched image is not great enough to have any real value to a potential client. It's OK to exaggerate the effect slightly to show the work you'll be doing to their images. Also, that GIF is way, way, way too big to be used on the web. You might want to explore using Flash or just some Javascript to swap original-retouched images.

I agree, I'm on Broadband and the image is slow to load and slow to transition from original to edited. A quicker transition might be helpful.

Dude, that image is 2 MEGABYTES?! What were you THINKING?

;)

Also, saving a photo as a GIF really makes it look like crap, what with dithering to 256 colors. :-P

Here's a better way to show the changes between two images: use two JPEG files, and some JavaScript in the web page to switch between them when the mouse is put over the image.

//www.insflug.org/raw/analysis/dcrawvsfvu/crops.php3

It'll take a minute to load, but then you can mouse over the image to see the differences.
