Huh? I may be just rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, but there's nearly 19 hours left on this speed challenge no matter where you live.
(Isn't there?) |
yeah.. that is true, but if you have your camera set at local time.. it will show that the pic was taken not during the challenge hours. If i took a picture in the last 5 hours of the competition, my exif info would show that i took the piture after the challenge ended... So unless i want to change the settings on my camera to DPC time... it will stay that way.

I have mine set to local time and as far as I'm aware it not an issue as long as you enter the location of your shot when you submit your pic, that way (if checked) the timezone and thus validity can be duly confirmed. |

The local time zone is taken into account when qualifying an image ... even if the photographer is not in his home time zone at the time. IIRC from previous threads.

Just to confirm, the SC always take the local timezone into account when validating images, so as long as your camera is set to the (correct!) local time for your location, there won't be any problems.

ha ha ha i ,may have a chance to come in the top 50 Woo Hoo!
possibly if there are only 53 entries :( |
Well that is the case here in Australia, because we are 15 hours ahead (Queensland time)of dpc time we get home see there is a speed challenge and we only have that afternoon and night unless we are not working of course.
I was #5 to submit, lucky I got a good shot after only about 6 photos and no other ideas.

There are a couple of radio programs on BBC Radio 4 on the subject that can be found here.
I dunno, but a few peeps might find some inspiration, if not it makes interesting listening :)
Cheers

I say should never happen, because there was a data-entry error made that resulted in one Open Speed Challenge. Since it was not caught before the challenge went public, we allowed it to stand, so I guess I should say an Open Speed Challenge might happen Once in a Blue Moon (Challenge 242). |
Actually not a data-entry error at all.
It was a punny play on the "Once in a Blue Moon" theme... get it, an Open Speed Challenge... once in a blue moon?... nevermind. Guess nobody else got it. |

I can't enter this one since (a) my "Member" status is pending the clearing of me PayPal e-check, and (b) my new 20D is scheduled for delivery on Thursday (looking forward to that)! But if I COULD play, I think I would try to capture the hesitation you see at crosswalks when people are trying to decide whether to cross the street without the benefit of the green light. Ya'll have fun!
