Nshapiro - that WOULD be disturbing! LOL

Deapee - as far as I am concerned, litigation is there to help people who rightly deserve compensation for a genuine case of neglicence and not as a path to payouts for the sake of it. England is following the US in becoming more and more litigious and it's not a good thing. What it means is that prices on everything go up for all of us, even those who would not dream of making frivolous claims and society becomes even more dependent. If there had been an obvious and glaring problem in the pavement I would probably have gone to court for payment to cover dental treatment only (nothing more) and to ensure that the problem was fixed immediately. Whilst I found a few minor bumps and edges I didn't feel that there were any that were grounds for such a claim, even if I might succeed in pushing one through.

It makes me angry to read about some of the suits that are brought by people who refuse to take personal responsibility for their own mistakes.

Thanks folks!

Swelling is going down slowly. Stitches should apparently dissolve a week or so after they are put in. Bruises will take a while but I can cope with bruises. Mostly I'm looking forward to scabs and stitches and lip swelling to abate.

(Scabs are one of those really GROSS things aren't they... ick!)

I am also looking forward to next Friday when dentist will hopefully finish root canal and fit crown so I don't look like a pirate or a thug anymore!

But I'm fine, thanks!

The guilty party did porridge and I got a paltry £1000 to keep me in new dentures for the rest of my life!

Sincerely sorry to read about your recent injuries. Wishing you a speedy recovery Kavey.

Kavey,

Although I rarely use it, the D70 has a "screen function" so that you do not need to have your eye to the viewer ;-]

Oh, you weren't looking through the viewer at the time of the accident? my my my. It wasn't a photo opportunity that caused your mis-step? You mean you didn't have the camera blocking your view?

Well then, I just don't know what to say. At least the camera is OK!

Hope you mend quickly.

Flash

Of course hubby could take your mind off it........

Thanks Diana

Peecee, bloody hell, that's awful. Won't it be something if a day ever comes when we don't have to worry about violence and crime? Of course, even if that happens, I'll still be a clumsy biatch so it won't help me! ;o)

Flash, didn't have camera with me! And I tell you what, I'm certainly missing my hubby's kisses more than I can tell you. It's driving me nuts.

Ouch, I'll drink to your recovery with a Bloody Mary. I am actually on the verge of getting my braces off my teeth. I've had them on for two years now to straight'n things up a bit. Hurts when they tighten them, But I have never had the luxury of cracking half one off! aaaaaaahhhhhhhh! Now that I think of it My mother has half a fake tooth on one of her front teeth. She broke it off on the steering wheel of her car! Ouch! I forgot bout that.

I used to have braces too. My teeth have always been crowded. I had at least 4 milk teeth out and then 8 adult teeth, including the wisdom ones. And my teeth are smaller than an average adult's teeth by quite a margin. Even then my teeth are still crowded. Infact the one that broke is one that had reverted back to being slightly twisted and hence stuck out a bit.

At one point I had that type of brace where you have to put little elastic bands between top and bottom jaw and you carry a packet around with you so you can take them out before a meal and put new ones in after. I remember that soreness for the first few days after getting the braces tightened!

ROFL...

It's been mentioned before!

Oddly enough, my sister's utterly clumsy too - she was explaining to her colleague the very day before the accident how clumsy the both of us are and he didn't believe we could be that bad. When Pete called to let her know about the wee accident and this colleague heard the one side of the conversation he asked as soon as she hung up whether it was me and said that he took it all back, he totally believed her now!

An update on my lip and tooth? I went to the dentist again today and he checked out the lip too - the cut was totally healed but the stitch thread was still attached so he kindly cut the thread away for me. And when I got home afterwards the last huge remaining scab on my lip came away too. So I feel much less self-conscious now. As for my teeth - he finished the root canal and took the impressions for the crown I'll be getting on the 19th, just before we go away. There's also a small chance the tooth next to the broken one was sufficiently hard hit that the root may also die but it may heal so it's wait and see time. I'm looking almost normal except for some shiny pink new skin - hope it eventually goes brown like the rest of me. In my lip I have this large solid area - doesn't show but feels very strange. Apparently it's down to damage to the saliva glands and will take several months to shrink away. It doesn't hurt so I can live with that.

Glad to hear things are on the mend.

I was tripped in a playground when I was 11 and smashed both my front teeth. Neither root died and still have same crowns I had fitted at 18.

So, perhaps things might not be so bad. Anyway, keep smiling...if you can...and maybe you'll get that kiss you've been missing!!

Thanks!
I think today I'm finally back to being able to enjoy a good kiss - and anaethetic is almost worn off!
