when I came onto the computer last night the screen starting moving up and down......sounds weird I know but it's doing it again this morning! On a full page it moves up and down.......making me feel seasick!! Could it be virus, monitor, computer related. Ran a virus check and spybot on my puter last night and nothing showed.

Is the whold monitor image moving, or is it just what's within one window (IE)?
Also, I assume you are using a CRT, not an LCD screen?

Try a degauss on the monitor?

LCD monitor.........and what's a deguass Jadin?
It looks a bit like when your TV screen rolls but this is not a roll more of a jerky movt up and down. It stops when I'm working on it .....like writing this, but when I'm looking at a page ......this sounds really weird LOL |

make sure the monitor cord is securely plugged into to computer
edit: i've also seen this with the video card being loose, or the screen resolution/ refresh rate being set at or above the monitors maximum capabilities

Monitors hold an electrical charge. (They say you can die from a monitor even six months after the last time it was turned on.) Degaussing releases that charge. I'm not sure, but I don't believe LCD's need to be degaussed. I think it's only a "tube" thing.

It's jumping up and down just one pixel, right? And you are using an analog input (not DVI)? If that's the case, it is prolly due to how it is synchronizing with the video card. you might try changing the refresh rate, and see if that cures it.

Make sure power and monitor cables are plugged in tightly.

Before you go order a new one, try it on another PC/Mac.
Lifespan of any device is Warranty Period + 1. |

You don't happen to have a huge magnet or unshielded speakers near the monitor? |

I try to keep my cellphone away from my computer too, because on our desktop one at home and on the ones at school, when my phone'd ring it'd screw with the computer a bit. This probably has nothing to do with though, since it's constant and that was only when it was right next to it and ringing.

Magnets have no effect on LCD monitors, since they do not use an electron beam as CRTs do.

Maybe the image is static and your universe is jiggling up and down. Where are you located, cosmically?
Har har. But really, you might want to replace the video cable if that's possible on that monitor. Also, try setting the refresh rate in computer's display settings to something a little higher (ie. change it from 60 to 70hz). |

Personally I think its user error - Sue has been known to take a drink!
Sue, if your sober go with the checking of sockets and mess with the refresh rate (up). You have ps, have you tried Adobe Gamma to reset your settings?

Shhessssh Andi......giving away our secrets!!!! LOL
Took the monitor in for them to check it out. Had a major powersurge here on Thurs night, even though I've got a surge protector it had affected the monitor settings. An autoadjust of the monitor has seemed to have corrected the probs. Words have stopped moving anyway......can stop taking the seasick pills.
Hey Andi......meet ya out the back of dpc (red door) later......new bottle of Auntie Ethels pickled scotch thistle and yam home brew to try out :) :)
