After some of the comments, I decided to do some quick 'car set up shots'. I am posting these here for anyone that wants to see. I took them really quick in my garage with direct flash so they are nothing fancy, but you can see what is going on. Again thanks to all that voted and commented on the image. I am so excited that I have finally won a ribbon.
Here is the image
And here is a link to the set up images.

And the cutie in IMG 1108 said, "You rock, Dad!" really, super image. You may have seen the idea before, but your interpretation was original and exciting. |

Hell of a setup!
Am sure you checked and double checked that everything would hold before sending that EOS-1D Mark II on the road!
Nice work and nice shot :)

Nothing ventured nothing gained!!.
I had the same feeling when I did this shot.
I have a tripod set with a suction cup for attaching to cars windows etc. I still attached a security rope to the roofrack.
Cool picture though. I was considering doing a similar one on the roof of a taxi, but chickened out as it was raining, and wasn't sure if I could convinve a taxi driver to let me attach a camera to his roof, and hang out the window to set it off. |

I assure you the camera was safe. And it is in good hands. I will hang on to it for awhile.

You have more nerve than I do. My camera is not a 1/10 the value of yours and I wouldn’t be that bold. But hey it paid off, nice shot. |

Cool. In the photos at the beginning of the thread, the car is pretty muddy. How did you edit the submitted photo to clean away all the mud? We could all learn from your editing technique !!! |
