In one day I got two unsolicited emails from two separate people regarding my site:

1]praising me for having such a great site with such a clean layout

2]an entire book on how to improve it: the layout, the buttons, the categories, etc

LOL

I just want to point out that websites can legally be used for inspiration ONLY and that copying code (the skeleton coding) is illegal and unethical (I spoke to my designer).

If there are designers on here who know otherwise, please post!

As for all the improvements, some were very legitimate but other suggestions were just not in line with my own artistic and/or business vision (ie. what I want Lori Moss Photography to represent).

Thanks,

Lori

Clarification: I should add that the guy who said he likes my site also said he was in the process of copying the code so he could just copy-and-paste it in to his own site. Which, as you'll read further in this thread, is illegal.

I'm sure there's a point to the original post, but exactly what that is remains a mystery.

hehe...ever feel like you walked into a room halfway through a conversation, then realise that everyone but the person talking feels the same way?

Edit: No insult meant, Goldberry! I'm just really confused...

*rolls eyes*

It was a post to anyone who may be wondering about if or how to copy a website design since there's been quite a few posts regarding design and media as of late.

Spazzz, I'm sure there's lots of things that are a constant mystery to you.

LOL

Edit: for content. and to add an extra LOL since apparently Hopper, Spazzzzmo and TCT represent 'everyone')

I'm not at all trying to be funny ... I have no idea what you are talking about.

Oh wait, I just got it - you're refering to to Mike's "everyone" in the room he walked into.

LOL I'd say guys are cute when they're confused, but really, it's impossible for an entire gender to be cute ALL the time :-)

hehehhe

Sigh, if I could make stickmen sketches on here I'd explain the original post to you guys.

(woah, good burn, I'm on a roll!!!!)

Again, the original post was to explain some website site questions that'd been sent to me by DPC'ers and I thought other people might benefit from it.

:-) I had no idea this subject would be so confusing! I was the one confused, one DPC'er tells me my site is great, and another in the same day basically tells me it blows.

What exactly do you mean?

;0)

Edit: Your entire post made sense to me, except this line:

I just want to point out that websites can legally be used for inspiration ONLY and that copying code (the skeleton coding) is illegal and unethical (I spoke to my designer).

If you want us to go look at your site and praise it, just ask, no need for the cryptic messages :-)

If you wanted to discuss the ethical/legal issues of copying website design & code, why didn't you just say so? Instead you ramble on about some comments you got regarding your website which have little or no relevance to the subject you wish to discuss.

Are we supposed to visit your website and be overcome with the urge to copy it and claim it as our own? Are you looking for feedback on your site? Trolling for hits?

There are only 2 sentences in your post that bear any relation to your intended point of discussion, the rest is just so much extraneous information. The relevance of that information to your topic IS a mystery. Maybe, in you, I have found at least one source of things mysterious. Evidently I am not alone.

...I think.

Hey no worries ThatCloud. I don't think people even read Spazzzz's posts anymore...I think his posts cause Eye Cancer.

*constant giggling*

Edit: oh and did I mention Spazzzzmo's posts cause Eye Cancer?

One DPCer gave your site a "1" and another gave it a "10" and this is unusual behavior for DPC? :-)

TCT:

Skeleton code is the term my designer used to describe the template code which is what makes a site look the way it does.

I had a guy email me saying he was copying it for his own site, but that's illegal. You can look at a site and if you like it, design something similar, but you can't outright copy it's coding. That's like publishing a book with your name on it that someone else has written.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaahhhhaa!

The missing link.

I understood the skeleton coding, but you didn't relate it back to the guy who praised your site!

Now it makes sense...

LOL Good point :-)

(the original post was more towards the legal issues with using code)

LOL I guess I'm just more cryptic than I ever imagined.

"Goldberry" ...that's a good one! It's from Lord of the Rings..but whatever, it's still funny.
