In what situation would you use the EVF on the camera instead of the LCD screen?

I like using the LCD myself most of the time because it's just so much easier to see. If the sun is out behind me, I'll switch to the EVF as that blocks that light...I was taking some night shots the other day and used the EVF as well...not sure why, I guess it was just the mood I was in.

With the S602Z I use it in every situation. You are not distracted by anything but the stuff you see in the viewfinder and it is a much more stable way to hold the camera and avoud camera shake.

When using my Olympus, I prefer to use the EVF unless I don't want people to know I'm taking pictures.
However with my Canon A80, I only ever use the screen because I don't trust the optical viewfinder. It's one of the things I really dislike about the camera and is a real problem in bright light. I feel so much more comfortable holding the camera up to my face in most situations.

i agree. my old cam, the evf was horrible. when i went to the 602, it was very usable, and i used it 99.99999% of the time.
using the EVF saves battery power, also it cuts out other distractions like azrifel said, and it's more stable way to hold the camera as well.
