Was testing out a new lens and new lighting and I was wondering if these catchlights would be considered "bad" in a portrait. I ask because you can clearly see they are from an umbrella.

I would probably just blur the lines out a little bit so that it doesn't make it so obvious that it is an umbrella. I hope that makes sense.(?)

I agree, instead of normal light spots these look almost floral, not at all natural. I would blur or consider soft boxing.

They are only bad if you don't like them. The umbrella gives an interesting if unintended effect. Maybe you could build an image around it.
