Hello all you happy switchers! I have kind of an oddball question that I hope you folks can help me out with. In reading the specs of the 300D vs. the 20D, I noticed that the 20D has a pentaprism view finder and also something Canon calls a 'mat focusing screen'. So my question is... have you noticed a difference? Is focusing easier with the 20D? Is the view brighter, better?
Thanks in advance! |

I don't have the 20D but the 10D also has a pentaprism viewfinder and is brighter than the rebel.

is it a larger view as well? I find the rebel to be a little small for manual focusing :-( |

Doing a side by side evaluation on dpreview of the rebel, 10D and 20D may answer a lot of your questions. Also reading the reviews can help as well.

Yup, did that :-) Just looking for opinions from ya'll. And yes, Kyebosh, I have a hard time with manual focusing as well but it might be cause I'm blind as a bat! ;-) |

I have not put the rebel to my eye since I got the 20D. I'll do a comparison later and let you know.

Agree on that. Find it almost impossible to focus manually and I´m not blind. |

I had a terrible time trying to focus the Rebel manually with a telescope. I wondered if the diopter adjustment might be off. I tried autofocusing on a some poster text at a distance, then turning the diopter adjustment knob. My eye just compensated through about 2/3 of the adjustment range and the type was still in focus, so I still have no idea where the "correct" setting is. |
