As promised, for those who care, here are some images from Game 6 of the Yankees vs. Red Sox in the ALCS.

Now I have a question. I was [very] far away from the action, (Loge Box 521, Row B [4th row] and usually my photos are a lot better. I seem to have my timing down pat, but with it being night and the lighting not the greatest, also with it being an action shot, the highest I can get my shutter without the picture being very dark and GRAINY is 1/250. MAYBE 1/350, where during the day I usually have it above 1/750 or even 1/2000. I'm using a 75-300mm 4.0-5.6 Canon EF lense, but without IS, and no matter what I do, I can't seem to get those crystal clear frozen moment shots. The players are stopped, but the ball streaks.

Any tips would be much appreciated, not that it'll matter until next April. LOL.

More images can be found at the link below from seasons 2002 - 2004, including more from Game 6 that I didn't post.

What ISO were you using? You may be approaching the limits of your cmaera-lens. The only tips I can think of are the obvious ones - tripod, higher ISO, Neat Image, invest big bucks in a better lens, and, of course, try a day game.

You gonna root for the Sox against the Cards?

Being it's a stadium event, I can't get a tripod in, though sneaking in a monopod...maybe. I don't know. I started out at an ISO of 800, though I bumped it up at one point to 1600 to be able to get a faster shutter speed from the lower light. I know what I'm asking for for the holidays though...gift certificate to B&H. lol.

And I'll never in my life root for the Red Sox. Go Cards!!!

A monopod would help if you could bring one into Yankee Stadium, although fast lens would be even better if you're trying to get a perfectly still ball without the streaks at a night game.

Man, that 2004 ALCS was a great series.

There is no alternative but to get a fast lens and using high ISO. The Canon 300mm f/4L IS is pretty good, becomes a 480mm (35mm equivalent) on your 10D and reasonably priced when compared to its big brothers the 300 f/2.8, 400 f/2.8, 400 f/4, 500 f/2.8, 500 f/4...

ISO 1600 Canon 300mm f/4L IS + 1.4x Teleconverter at 1/320
