I'm traveling to Marseille in November and plan to have some great photographic opporunity. I am concerned though about recharging may camera batteries as I'm not quite sure what type of converter would be best. Has anyone here purchased a converter that you are happy with? I would prefer to buy online.

Thanks.

hi, i'm not sure what shape the plug is in marseille but i would suggest if you haven't already to look at the max input voltage on your canon charger. chances are it is capable of handling a different voltage since it is a newer device and then you would just need a plug adapter and not a voltage converter

yeah, check the range of the charger. It propably says something like 110V-250V 60Hz-50hz. If the voltage and frequency range is similar to that then you can buy a cheap plug converter, since the charger handles the rest.

What you need (just an example!) is something like this:

If your charger accepst only 110V/60Hz, then you need a voltage converter, which is propably expensier than a new 250V/50Hz charger for your camera.

Thanks for your help. It seems that I only need an adapter as my charger is equipped to handle the rest. Here's the info I got from Canon:

textThank you for contacting Canon product support.

The battery charger for your Powershot G5 digital camera can be used
within a range of 100 to 240 volts (50/60 Hz). You may need a plug
adapter to connect the U.S. type plug to an overseas socket, but if the
voltage falls within the range noted above, then no converter is
required.

Thank you for choosing Canon.
