My father-in-law is celebrating his birthday next month. He's a bit of a photo nut, uses a Coolpix 5700 as his main camera, prints to an HP inkjet.
He lives in Rancho Sante Fe, about 20-25 miles north of San Diego. We'd like to get him a gift certificate to a great photo store in his area. Does anybody know of the definitive stores in that area, hopefully something north of town to save him driving and parking downtown?

| Why not get a gift card from BHPhoto the Disneyland for photographers. Plus their prices are cheap. |

Thanks Welland and Brad. Even though my FIL uses the internet, I'm not comfortable getting him a gift card that he'd need to spend online. However, since B&H also has a great catalog, and you can order over the phone, a B&H gift card is now my backup plan, thanks Welland!
Brad, are the Ritz stores out there pretty typical of Ritz nationwide? Mall stores (generally) with limited counter space and typically kids working there?
Where do YOU shop when you want to go into a store and handle the merchandise? I really would like to have an actual store to send him to. |

Hi againJohn,
The Ritz stores are exactly that. Maybe staffed a bit better than a high school kid. I've been in the one at North County Fair and was OK.
North County Camera is a good store and is a great "Candy" store for me. Knowldgeable staff.
