Hi,
I was trying to see if I could get any good portraits of my boyfriend, and this one was the one I was most satisfied with, although I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to improve it.
Thank you!

Well, first, I see an orange color cast, probably from the incandescent lighting in the room. YOu need to set your camera's white balance to incandescent and that should eliminate it. Or, you could play around with color balance in a photo editing program.

It looks underexposed... Once photoshopped appropriately I think this is a great start, though! I like the expression and posture, but the levels need to be adjusted to make the blacks black...also, it's too bad about that bright reflection to the right of his head.

Edit: I agree with Olyuzi about the colour cast...

Thank you, guys. Yes, it was a big mistake I did not white balance once I stepped in the room. I tried fixing the glare and the color with photoshop, but did not get much improvement. What bothers me in the picture is the "green hair", which I tried taking out, but I guess the lack of white balance gave me some pretty bad colors in there.

Hope you didn't mind. But how is this?

I really like the colors of your version! Pretty good. If I can get that on my high resolution version without the noise, would be perfect. I will try. Thank you!

I like the original, orange and all..that is, if that is how it actually looked.

When you're in the moment, if you see the object, and it's an organgy color because of the lighting, then I don't understand the need/want to change it. Again, if that's how the subject actually looked I say go with it.

Albeit, it's virtually impossible to successfully convert to B&W in my experience.
