maybe something like this?

Gradation filter with blue to green/black tones (blue inside, black outside) with a color burn adjustment on the layer
then painted a large circl of the complimentary color to blue (orange) over the bear's heads to give it a glow.

Makes the bear candles more of a dominating and spooky presence. Gives them personality, rather then...here are some candles shaped like bears.

But you've got a good pic to work with. Experiment. Have fun.

wow I'm lovin that atsxus! :) great job...:P

The funny thing was, it was just a family trip to some candle making workshop and I had my camera as usual and took pic's of the candles. Then the shop owner asked me to show her the pics and she liked them and asked if I also photographed children and if I'd do that for her! hehehehe I told her I'd love to and I'd do it for free (since it's the first time i'd be doin it :) ) cool though hehe

if your intent was to show the "group" of candles, than a much deeper DOF (f22) and longer exposure would have yeilded better results.

also, beware of soft focus issues at low apertures if you use the Kit lens.

I like both of them with just a couple of suggestions.

For the first one, have only one candle in focus, as it is the blue and red candles are competing for attention. Good work with getting the OOF foreground to work for you.

For the second one the string in the bear's face is a bit distracting, however the DOF chosen works well.

Again thanks alot! These were not set up or anything and I liked the way they turned out (not the best light OR the best lens for this!) :)
