I've posted a bunch of snooker images and would welcome comments on them.

Taking them is a bit of a pain, since lightning is very poor and flash is (as you might well understand) out of the question. White balance is tricky in that environment too. Add brown walls and ceiling, a purple floor and screaming green tables to the soup and you get the big picture. Faces tends to reflect the green and not having ppl look like the incredible Hulk is an effort.

Taken with a D70 and a tripod mounted 80-200 f2.8. Shutter speeds around 1/4-1/10.

they are very nice...I am looking into getting that camera soon. I like the one of just the mans face and a small portion of his pool stick. very nice angle

Thank you!

You won't be disappointed in the D70 I'm sure. It's the kind of equipment that you feel is not responsible for any bad pictures taken. The only drawback then would be that when it's not the camera, it has to be.. Hm.. :-)

I think your snooker shots came out well considering the situation. 17 & 19 would be my favs. Maybe the green of the table is just a tad too bright. I have been thinking about some shots in our local pool room and assumed that flash was going to be absolutely necessary. I can always learn more from looking at other people's pictures if they include the exposure information - aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.

I didn't have the time to add all the info to the images, but they were taken with ISO 350-500, shutter 1/10, f3.5-4.0, tungsten.. Hope it helps.

About the table cloth - it actually is that green, so I've refrained from the itch to desaturate much. However the light above the table (about the only light source) gives the cloth perhaps too much dominance in the image, I agree. Again - many images and little time for masking etc. Wanted to get them out on the web quickly..

why do all the balls look like a smudged ring around them? No details and blurred in
green.....lost some quality maybe.I think the views and light are pretty good though.
