DHL came this morning. No school for teacher planning day. I was sleeping and my brother comes in wakes me up and hands me a box. Enough said. Batteries are charging and you guys are getting an ISO 3200 shot for the night challenge. Good day.

where can i take it to get cleaned?

If you are going to let someone else do it, I would not trust anyone but Canon themselves. And that is what I would do if I had just bought it.

They'll do it for free, but I have no idea what the turnaround time would be like. maybe they would expedite yours since it is a new purchase.

Good Lord! Are you saying that your brand new 20D is dusty?!?
10/16/2004 11:46:11 AM · #9
Don't even worry about that level of dust. You could use a hand blower to remove that big booger at the top (will actually be at the bottom). the rest of those small specks will not show up unless you are shooting at f/16 or smaller aperture.
Wait until you really need a cleaning. Then, if you have a good service center near you, you could take it there. A Canon service center should do it for free, at least within the warranty period. For better results, though, without having to go to Canon Service, I recommend the Copper Hill method.

you sure it's not the lense that is dusty?
or the UV fiter...

This was my sensor after 3 weeks and 7-8 lens changes (Sky shot, F22, Autolevels to bring out the specks. I cleaned it my self using the Copperhill method. It's my third time cleanig a sensor and this is the result. Missed one big spot but the rest is fine. The other 2 times were for my 10D. It's really easy to do now that I've had a few times to try it.

Reading on DPreview.com ... I think it came with most of that dust. I'll test my camera again Sunday night to see if I got a lot of dust. Yes I'm very carefull when changing lenses.

Anyhoo, congrats on the new cam Harrison.

In my example, I tried 2 different lenses ... identical dust spots.

Dust on a lens or filter will nearly never show up on photos. If you think about it, the surface of the lens element would have to be in focus, something that pretty much never happens - well, I've done it once...

Just got back from one of my brothers hockey games. Shot in ISO 1600. So badass. Pics soon to come.
