I am SO going to start marking people DOWN for selectively desaturating the colours in their pictures unless it really serves a purpose.
There are so MANY doing this in the distinctive features challenge and for every 1 that uses it well there are about 10 where it serves no purpose.
Sorry to vent but this is starting to bug me.

At least you're checking to see if it serves a purpose. A lot of people seemed to have jumped on the bandwagon lately of hating it just because other people in the forums do, and mark it down automatically.

Yea, and what abount oversaturation? People are pushing the colors to the point of distorting the picture. It seems to be the fashion! |

Also, there are some people who think that anything grey in the image is desaturated. |

I agree.
Some photos look like they've been selectively desaturated when they haven't. Be careful when marking these photos down as it can be really effective if done correctly...although it is definitely racing towards cliche as more and more people use it for the heck of it.
My stop sign entry for Parts looked like it has been seriously desaturated before I even edited it. |

Hey, I hope my Backlighting entry did not suffer from that! It's a color pic.
