Hello,
I've put a link to an image in here (hopefully I did it right and it works) and wanted to ask some of the knowledgable folks here two questions about it.
First, would an image like this (I have many that are in the same catagory) be useful in the stock photography market? I don't know if there is any use for such images...
Second, if it is, how would you go about putting it out there?
Thanks for any input at all!
Doug

P.S. The images is full size, so about 2MB. I wanted people to be able to see the WHOLE image, but don't want to catch you off guard with the size of it.

hehe, took almost 20 seconds to load for me. great shot, the water spray is very crisp. Pity its not a full sraight on shot and you'd do better if the horizon was straight.
At first I thought I'd prefer it if the face was showing but now I prefer the power of the head going down and the fingers make it a well poised shot

To Fibonacci: I'd be glad to post a thumb, if I knew how... I'm not a paying member, can I still do it? If so, how?
To EcceSignum: I have others that do show the face. I just picked this one as an example.
Any opinions as to it's marketability? I am really clueless in this area...

Hey, it's not exactly a thumbnail, but I posted a much reduced version, about 219kb and 640 pixels. It should be quicker for those who need it. Thanks again.

If you are not a member then both the thumb and full size image must be posted elsewhere. When posting the link use the second last icon, enter the url to the full size image and in the text area put img tags around the link to your thumbnail image. The thumb should probably be no bigger than your profile picture (120 x 90) and about 5k.
Longhand it looks like this: (works for forum signature as well)
[url=*url to full size*][img]*url to thumb*[/img][/url]
(replace everything between the *'s including the *'s with the appropriate urls)
You've got a good stop motion picture there. I like how the water droplets just hang in the air. I agree with previous posts that it would probably look better if the view was straight down the lane.
It's looks (to me) more like a newspaper image rather than a stock image, but then I'm no expert.

Thanks for the comments and help so far!
As for being directly at the end of the lane, unfortunately that's where the coaches, timers, and other cheering (wet, dripping, knock your camera into the pool type from excitement) swimmers are most of the time, so I can't get there to shoot. Occasionally, but not often.
I guess from the comments so far that nobody really has any experience of if such an image would/could be useful in a stock situation. Oh well, any more comments or input is welcome!
Thanks again.

I think it would be very useful as stock based on what I have seen (and sold). It conveys triumph, power, spirit, winning, etc, etc. A slight critique though: I think it would be more useful without the truncated legs.
I hope that helps.

It´s fine image but wether it is good for stock I´m nor sure. There is realy just one way to find out and that is to upload it to a stockphoto site. You have nothing to loose.
There are loads of such sites, f.inst. IstockPhoto.com and Dreamstime.com |

Again, thanks for the inputs.
Umbris: The info about the legs, you are prbably right. I haven't cropped the image any for this display. Wanted people to see the whole thing.
Garlic: Thanks for the info. I'll go check those out.

I can highly recommend iStockPhoto.com for someone starting out as a professional/semi-professional photographer. It is an excellent site with a talented community of photographers and designers. I think your swimmer photo would do very well there.
Good Luck
Alan

Thanks for the recommendation Umbris. Since Garlic recommended them too, seems like a good place to check out. I'll go do that.
