i'm surprised how easy it was to read through that!! it just "looked" a little unusual, but there wasn't any difficulty reading it!
you can't screw up three letter words though :) |

That is the most annoying thing I have ever seen. |

Fits right in with the University of California, Berkeley, approach to Ebonics...which is pandering to the so-called HIP HOP, RAP music? bunch. Why learn to spell the English language, or even speak it, when you can whine about being disadvantaged and get a priveleged money grant to attend a once great center of learning. |

Give this to a child/adult with a reading disability though, and things are not quite as easy.

If you live don't live in the San Francisco Bay Area you may not know about this story.
Update: The artist will correct the errors, but will be paid $6,000 to correct them.

???
The big (overblown) flap over "Ebonics" had to do with the Oakland Unified School District ... I don't think UC had much to do with it, did they? |

The academic impetus and support of UC Berkeley was critical to this Ebonics stupidity. It is known as the trickle-down theory, from a different quadrant of the universe. |

Hmmm... well I thought it was merely an interesting and amusing fact that we can read stuff like that.

Thanks, faidoi, for that item. Notice that the "artist" blames others for not catching her misspellings! |

So she changed her mind -- in the article it says she wouldn't fix it even for the money because of the hate mail?
I think they should have paid her $4000 for the initial work rather than the $40000 check. She probably wouldn't notice the mispelling of the amount ;) |

Geez...why is everyone so uptight if something is repeated around here. It is only a website. |

Yep, it's too much work to go back and check the old threads. Guilty. :-D

Because you start everything over again from the beginning instead of people reading what's already been said and then ADDING to the conversation. Those of us who have to answer questions get tired of writing the same answer over and over and over when it is readily available for anyone willing to look it up.

spelling is the one true way of measuring intelligence/
but....
typographical errors are different.
You can teach a monkey to type- but not to spell. |

You could really get burned for this comment by those who are dyslexic or know somebody who is or are sensitive to the condition.
Edit: Anyway, we all know that the one true measure of intelligence is thus:
Does gravity work for you or against you?

we wouldn't be around very long if it weren't for gravity, but the space program might be a few steps ahead of where it is now...
