was playing around with the following image, trying to make it more Holloweenesqe, and was wondering people's opinions. I'm not sure about it.

Semi-Original (desaturated)

Ultra edited.

It depends on what you are trying to achieve. The first is a fairly straight forward photographic shot. The black and white isnt bad but the light on the left is a little distracting. The second image looks like it's straight from a horror movie, especially with what looks like scanlines. The second image is what is normally called 'dark art' and the first looks like a photograph. They both work, just depends on what they are working for.

well, I was going for the dark and moody look , so I guess I achieved my goal. Thanks, moodville.

I completely love the overtly editted version. i'm not totally keen on the horizontal lines / added noise - if the overall shot was smoother or the grain more grainy-like then i think it might be a touch easier on the eyes. but the rest of what you've done - the sepia and the ehaps of burning quite frankly rocks. All you need is some goth chick or cape-wearing undead vampire type character, and you're into poster territory.

I like the edited one but I agree with redmoon that I´m not totally keen ong the lines/noise.

redmoon & garlic;

thanks so much for the input. Yeah - wasn't sure about the lines. (underpainting filter). I'll see what I can do about that. Now I wish maybe I'd saved it for the October freestudy?

Nah...got better ones. lol.

same here. love the dark edited version, but the lines are a little too much. try doing the same but without the lines. im very curious to see what it will look like...
